Yesterday, the Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia) hosted construction students from high schools in nine local counties for the Metro Atlanta Skills Challenge. The Chattooga County Skills Team received the Highest Scoring School Cup at the competition.

Georgia gas prices continue to drop at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $2.96 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight).
On Friday of last week, Summerville Police responded to a call about a break-in at a house that is being remodeled on Blake Street. According to a report released Monday, the owner of the house showed police where someone had forcefully removed a padlock and damaged a hasp that was on the front door. Nothing from inside the house appeared to be missing, but someone had taken two trash cans and some solar lights. The incident was referred to an investigator with the Summerville Police Department.
Two men were charged with second-degree burglary last week after they stole some electrical wiring from a building in Summerville. According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, the two men were caught after a Summerville Police Officer reported two trash bags full of stripped wiring that was found on Rainbow Trail in Summerville.
The Town of Trion Council voted Thursday to approve of a resolution to create a Department of Public Safety and Office of Public Safety Director. They also approved of Chief David Gilleland as the new Public Safety Director.
