With the word about Harbin Clinic being purchased by Atrium Health, several prominent doctors in Northwest Georgia have left Harbin and switched over to Advent Health Redmond instead of going to work for Atrium Health Floyd.

If you travel through downtown Summerville, you will likely notice the Tooga Theater Marquee with different messages. Recently those messages have wished happy birthday to area residents. Other messages included a “thank you” to Hammonds Auto Parts for their service to the community and an advertisement for Justin Goodridge at American Roofing in Summerville. Chattooga County Clerk Martha Tucker explains that the marquee messages are available to anyone that wants to rent the marquee for a day. The cost is $15 per side per day. You can contact Ms. Tucker at the Chattooga County Commissioner’s Office for more information on renting the marquee space.

The Trion Veterans Committee will be holding a BBQ fundraiser coming up next Saturday, May 5 at the pavilion at the Trion Track Field. The fundraiser will feature plates for $7, or you can purchase a whole Boston butt for $40. The Trion Veterans Committee appreciates the public’s support for this fundraiser.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp spent the past week traveling around the state and signing bills into law. The governor was in West Georgia on Thursday of this week and signed several bills in Coweta County that deal with the worker shortage in the Peach State.

On Friday afternoon the Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia and Harbor House – Northwest Georgia Child Advocacy Center hosted the 3rd annual Walk to Support Survivors in Downtown Rome.

Habitat for Humanity-Coosa Valley will sponsor a 5K run and health walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 6, starting from the Rome Braves Stadium. Cost is $25 for the run, $20 for the health walk.
