A Catoosa County jury found Joshua Aaron Basham, a known gang member, guilty on March 27, 2025, for shooting a man during a road rage incident on October 10, 2021. The trial lasted four days, starting on March 24, 2025. Basham faced charges of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The jury did not accept his self-defense argument. The trial was complicated when Basham arrived under the influence of fentanyl and other drugs, resulting in contempt of court. District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller led the prosecution, supported by several team members who played vital roles in preparing for the trial. The shooting happened on Battlefield Parkway, where the victim was found with a gunshot wound near a Taco Bell. Witnesses identified Basham’s green Nissan truck and detailed the events leading to the shooting. Ultimately, Judge Melissa Hise sentenced Basham to 20 years, with 15 years in prison, emphasizing a strong message against violent crime.
