Trion High School is celebrating Miss Mollie Edge as their Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Christian Athlete of the Year. The announcement, released by Trion City Schools System Athletic Director Jason Lanham, highlights Edge’s exceptional character and dedication. “Mollie is a remarkable young lady and a tremendous role model both on and off the athletic field,” Lanham stated. “She genuinely cares for others and is the type of student athlete that all schools would envy.” Edge’s athletic prowess is well-known throughout Trion, with significant success in both softball and soccer. But her contributions extend far beyond her achievements on the field. Demonstrating a commitment to service, Edge also serves as a team manager for the Trion High School wrestling team. “Her success in softball and soccer are well known throughout Trion. This alone would leave a lasting impact on our school but she also shows her true servant’s heart by being a manger for the wrestling team,” Lanham explained. Trion High School and the FCA recognize and appreciate Edge’s dedication and positive influence. The school community extends its congratulations and gratitude to Miss Mollie Edge for her contributions to both FCA and Trion Athletics.

Mega Millions will introduce several changes next month, including new ticket prices, jackpots, and improved odds of winning. Starting April 4, tickets will cost $5 each, replacing the previous $2 price. An optional add-on for increasing non-jackpot prizes and a $3 feature for two jackpot plays will be removed.

Chattooga 4-H is celebrating the success of two of its SAFE .22 Rimfire team members, Tyler Floyd and Lillian Lamb, who both earned Honorable Mention at the State .22 Silhouette Match held this past Saturday at the Pioneer Camp Rifle Range at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. The pair showcased impressive skill and dedication, representing Chattooga County admirably at the state-level competition. Chattooga 4-H extends its congratulations to Tyler and Lillian for their outstanding performances. The program also acknowledges and thanks Coach Floyd for his hard work and dedication in training and guiding these young athletes. Their collective efforts have brought pride to the entire Chattooga 4-H community. The .22 Silhouette Match is a challenging test of marksmanship, requiring precision and focus. Tyler and Lillian’s accomplishments are a testament to their commitment and the quality of the Chattooga 4-H shooting sports program.

Aviation enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The 2025 Wings Over North Georgia Air Show is scheduled for October 17th through 19th at the Russell Regional Airport in Rome, and tickets are selling quickly. This year’s headliner is none other than the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels, who will be thrilling audiences with their precision flying on Saturday and Sunday. Adding to the spectacle, a special twilight show complete with dazzling fireworks will kick off the weekend on Friday evening. With anticipation building for the event, John Cowman, President of JLC Airshow Management, is urging the public to purchase their tickets now to avoid disappointment. “We anticipate an early sell-out this year,” Cowman stated. The Blue Angels are expected to wow the crowds with their impressive aerial maneuvers in their F/A-18 Super Hornets. Their appearance at Wings Over North Georgia is one of the final stops on their 2025 air show season, which began earlier this month. Samuel Ross Jenkins, an 18-year-old resident of Rome, Georgia, was apprehended in Chattooga County on March 24th, 2025, stemming from outstanding warrants in Bartow County. Jenkins was subsequently transferred to the Bartow County Jail and released on March 25th, 2025, after posting a $14,000 bond. He faces multiple charges related to alleged incidents occurring on March 11th and March 19th, 2025. The charges include contributing to the delinquency of a minor, simple battery, statutory rape, and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

A Georgia Senate panel has approved a revised version of House Bill 397, a piece of election legislation that has faced scrutiny for potential changes to voting laws. While the amended bill eliminates some of the most controversial proposals, including plans to hand voter challenge complaints to state election officials and enforce new ballot counting methods, it still retains elements drawing criticism.
