Reports indicate that an email address used by NGEMC to send e-bills has been spoofed, with scammers attempting to deceive recipients into disclosing their Apple ID passwords.
The Chattooga County Extension Office is hosting a meet and greet for the new Chattooga County 4-H Extension Agent, Amy Anderson. Anderson took over her new position on November 1st. She brings with her, 13 years of teaching experience as she steps into her new roll at the Chattooga County Extension Office.
Amy holds a Master’s degree in Secondary English from Kennesaw State University and has taught various subjects. She is skilled in engaging students through different educational methods. Amy has a track record of building successful programs and engaging students through initiatives like SkillsUSA and the National Honor Society. She is also involved in her church’s Youth Group and has experience as a cheer leading coach.
The meet and greet is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19th from 6-7:30 PM at the Chattooga County Ag Building. A spaghetti supper will be available for $5.
Gas prices in Georgia decreased at the pumps compared to a week ago. Georgians pay an average of $2.93 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 1 cent less than a week ago, 21 cents more than a month ago, and 6 cents more than this time last year. It costs drivers an average price of $43.95 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline.

Initial filings for unemployment benefits in Georgia experienced a notable decline last week, according to a report released by the U.S. Department of Labor last Thursday. The new claims for jobless benefits fell to 4,602 in the week ending November 2, down significantly from 6,119 the previous week. This drop in Georgia stands in contrast to the national trend, where U.S. unemployment claims rose to 221,000 last week, reflecting an increase of 3,000 claims from 218,000 the week before on a seasonally adjusted basis. The report highlighted regional disparities, with North Dakota experiencing the largest percentage surge in weekly claims, which skyrocketed by an alarming 138.0%.
