The Chattooga Amateur Radio Club (CARC) is inviting the public to join them for their annual Field Day event this coming weekend, June 28th and 29th, at Sloppy Floyd State Park, Pavilion #2. Field Day is a cornerstone event in the amateur radio community, offering a unique blend of competition, education, and community outreach.

Participants will be setting up temporary radio stations in a simulated emergency environment, practicing vital communication skills that could be critical in real-world disasters. Field Day is an opportunity for amateur radio operators to hone their skills and demonstrate the capabilities of ham radio to the public.  Ham radio operators will be setting up a temporary station, making contacts across the country, and showcasing how amateur radio can provide vital communication links when other systems fail.

The event, held annually on the fourth full weekend of June, serves as a crucial exercise in emergency preparedness, allowing operators to test their equipment and skills in a challenging and realistic scenario. Beyond the practical applications, Field Day also provides a fun and engaging learning experience for those new to the hobby and seasoned veterans alike. Whether you’re a licensed ham radio operator or simply curious about the world of amateur radio, the Chattooga Amateur Radio Club welcomes you to join them at Sloppy Floyd State Park this weekend. Come learn about the hobby, see the equipment in action, and discover the important role amateur radio plays in our community.
