With no countywide contested races on the ballot on Tuesday, all eyes were on state and national offices as Chattooga County voters went to the polls.
Before voting opened on Election Day, 47% of Chattooga County’s registered voters had already cast their ballots in the 2024 General Election through advance voting. As in 2020, Chattooga County voters voted for Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump, who garnered over 80% of the vote. U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene did not do as well as the former President, with Democratic challenger Shawn Harris getting over 20% of the vote; but Greene was the decisive winner.
In state races, Georgia State Senator Colton Moore defeated Chattooga County Democrat Bart Bryant with over 70% of the voters casting their ballots for the incumbent. Also, Republican State Representative Eddie Lumsden of Armuchee defeated Democrat Logan Johnson with over 80% of the vote.
The only local races yesterday were in the City of Menlo council races where Jerry Morgan defeated Linda Wilson 67-21. Courtney Willingham was unopposed and received 67 votes. Amanda Swords defeated Patti Settoon 84-25.
