Local gardeners and sustainability enthusiasts will soon have the opportunity to learn a fundamental skill for green living: composting. The Chattooga County Extension office has announced it will host a practical, hands-on workshop dedicated to transforming kitchen scraps and organic household waste into nutrient-rich homemade fertilizer.
The class, designed for both novice and experienced growers, aims to demystify the composting process and show residents how to significantly boost their soil nutrition using materials readily available in their own homes.
“Have you ever wondered how to boost your soil nutrition with the use of organic materials from your kitchen?” asked a representative from the Chattooga County Extension. “This class will provide the practical steps needed to turn that waste into powerful fertilizer, helping attendees save money on commercial products and achieve higher garden yields through sustainable practices.”
The workshop will cover the basics of composting, including the ideal balance of “green” and “brown” materials, troubleshooting common composting issues, and how to properly utilize the finished product to maximize garden production and health.
The event is scheduled for Monday, December 3rd, starting at 6:00 PM.
