A Chattooga County man was taken to jail in Walker County after an incident at the Lafayette Wal-Mart.

According to reports from Walker County, the Wal-Mart customer is accused of shoplifting nearly $500 in merchandise last week.

Forty-seven-year-old Kevin Max Thomas of Summerville is accused of riding around in a motorized shopping cart at the Lafayette Wal-Mart and concealing items in a large suitcase on the cart.

Police say that they found an 181 piece mechanics tool set, a drill with two batteries, a utility knife and more items.

Thomas reportedly refused to sign a trespass notice that would have barred him from the store. Thomas stated that he was going to “get everyone involved fired” that was involved in apprehending him before he left the store without paying.

At that point Thomas was arrested and charged with shoplifting and was taken to the Walker County Jail.
