Chattooga County is inviting qualified companies to submit sealed bids for a significant contract to transport the county’s solid waste from its transfer station to the Gordon County Landfill. The two-year contract is set to begin on September 15, 2025, and conclude on August 31, 2027.
Sole Commissioner Andy Allen announced the bid opportunity, which is being conducted pursuant to an act of the legislature (HB No.414, Georgia Laws 1956, page 2899 as amended). The successful bidder will be responsible for hauling an estimated three to four loads per day, totaling between 85 to 120 tons of waste daily.
The route for the waste transportation will originate at the Chattooga County Transfer Station, located at 118 Stockade Rd, Summerville, GA, and conclude at the Gordon County Landfill, 1224 Pleasant Hill Rd NE, Ranger, GA.
Bids must be submitted on a “per-ton” basis and are required to include all taxes, fuel surcharges, and any other applicable fees or charges. These additional costs must be itemized separately from the “per ton” disposal fee.
Key requirements for bidders include:
Equipment: The bidder must supply four (4) open-top trailers, each equipped with a roll tarp system and a current annual DOT inspection report. Trailers will be dropped off at the Chattooga County Transfer Station lot, and the successful bidder’s personnel must secure all loaded trailers.
Insurance: Bidders must carry a minimum of $1,000,000 per occurrence in general liability insurance from a reputable company rated at least A- and licensed in Georgia, along with workers’ compensation insurance as required by state laws.
All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the words “Sealed Bid” clearly written across the outside. Bids are due at the office of the Chattooga County Commissioner, located at 10102 Commerce St., Summerville, GA 30747, on or before 10:00 AM on September 12, 2025.
Bids will be opened publicly at the Commissioner’s Office immediately following the submission deadline. The Commissioner reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
