Chattooga Family Connection’s 9th Annual Home for the Holidays Food Distribution was held Thursday, and organizers say this year’s event was one of the most successful yet, serving more than 300 local families.
Organizer Maisha Ludy said the event’s success was made possible through strong community support from across Chattooga County. Both Chattooga County Schools and Trion City Schools played major roles, contributing donations and volunteers who helped pack and distribute food boxes.
Local businesses also stepped up in a big way. United Grocery Outlet provided significant donations, while Taco Bell supplied meals and drinks for volunteers working throughout the day. Additional support came from Felicia Foster, who donated sandwiches for the event staff.
For the past several years, the Community Resource Center of Chattooga has partnered with Chattooga Family Connection by hosting the drive-thru distribution, giving families a convenient and efficient way to pick up holiday food boxes.
Organizers say the event is a testament to Chattooga County’s ongoing willingness to help neighbors in need, especially during the holiday season.
“When it’s time to come together, Chattooga always shows up,” Ludy said in reflecting on the community’s support.
