Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) operates the Arthur M. Blank Hospital today, a critical player for pediatric care for Georgia and beyond. Located in Brookhaven at the nexus of North Druid Hills Road and I-85, the 19-story, 2-million-square-foot facility is poised to become a national leader in child health.
Made possible by a $200 million donation from the Arthur M. Blank Foundation in 2020, the new hospital was built to address critical capacity issues at the previous Egleston Hospital and serve Atlanta’s rapidly growing population.
With 446 licensed beds, the expansive hospital dramatically increases CHOA’s capacity and offers unparalleled clinical capabilities. It boasts Georgia’s only Level 1 pediatric trauma center, ready to handle the most critical emergencies. The facility also houses the renowned Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and a specialized unit for highly infectious diseases, ensuring comprehensive care for a wide range of complex conditions.
Beyond its clinical prowess, the Arthur M. Blank Hospital is designed with a profound focus on patient and family well-being. On-campus amenities include full kitchens, laundry facilities, dedicated classrooms, and even rentable bedrooms, aiming to ease the burden on families during their child’s hospitalization. Advanced technology integrates smart room displays and high-quality cameras, fostering better communication and patient engagement. The campus further offers a serene environment with over 20 acres of greenspace, providing calming outdoor spaces for recovery and reflection.
This monumental project is more than just a new building; it represents a transformation in the delivery of pediatric care throughout Georgia. Designed to be a leading national facility, the Arthur M. Blank Hospital is expected to advance treatments and methodologies, profoundly impacting the health outcomes for countless children and families in the state.
Linda Masikite, Chief Administrative Officer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, will be a featured guest on the Georgia News Network’s weekly public affairs program, “Georgia Focus.” Masikite will discuss the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital in detail. The program airs locally on WZQZ on Sunday mornings at 6 AM this week.
