As the holiday season approaches, Chattooga County residents are invited to spread festive cheer by participating in the much-anticipated “Christmas Trees In The Park” event at Dowdy Park. This magical initiative encourages schools, churches, businesses, and individuals to showcase their creativity and holiday spirit through beautifully decorated Christmas trees.
Participants can begin setting up their trees in designated areas of the park, with all decorations needing to be completed by December 2. Each participant is responsible for procuring their own tree and decorations, while the organizers will provide a stake and sign to identify each tree for a nominal fee of $15. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to express their personal holiday spirit and honor loved ones while contributing to the festive atmosphere.
In an effort to ensure safety and maintain the holiday spirit, organizers recommend using LED lights and securing decorations with zip ties or floral wire. Residents are also encouraged to weatherproof ornaments to withstand the elements. Importantly, all themed trees must be in good taste and no live trees are permitted. Participants have the option to dedicate their trees in honor of individuals or businesses, with the registration form allowing for personalized messages. The event promises to be a beautiful display of community spirit and creativity, with a variety of themed trees lighting up the park throughout the holiday season.
For those interested in participating, registration is required. Trees must be removed from the park by January 4, with the city and event volunteers not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
