The Cloudland Volunteer Fire Department is stepping up to serve its community on Lookout Mountain with a series of crucial safety initiatives. Residents in both Chattooga County, Georgia, and Cherokee County, Alabama, in the fire department’s service areas are encouraged to take advantage of these free resources.

First, the fire department is offering reflective address placards for mailboxes, free to residents aged 55 and over. These placards significantly improve visibility for emergency responders, ensuring quicker response times in critical situations. While the service is free, donations to support the Cloudland Volunteer Fire Department are gratefully accepted.

With Daylight Saving Time approaching on March 9th, the department is also providing free 9V batteries for residents to replace the batteries in their smoke detectors. This simple act of maintenance can be life-saving, ensuring smoke detectors are functioning properly and providing early warning in the event of a fire. Furthermore, the Cloudland Fire Department has partnered with the American Red Cross to provide free smoke detectors to households. These detectors will be professionally installed to code by Cloudland Fire Department personnel, guaranteeing optimal placement and functionality.

The program also extends to residents with hearing impairments, who qualify for bed shakers and strobe lights in addition to the standard smoke detectors.  \

Residents interested in receiving a reflective address placard, free 9V battery, or a free smoke detector (including bed shakers/strobe lights for the hearing impaired) are encouraged to contact any Cloudland Firefighter or to send them a message on the Cloudland Fire Department Facebook Page.
