Chattooga County resident Bart Bryant is not running for Congress. Instead, Bryant, who lives at Cloudland, has announced his intentions to run for the Georgia State Senate in the 53rd District which is currently represented by Republican State Senator Colton Moore.
WZQZ had reported late last week the Bryant was one of several Democrats looking to run against Republican U.S. Representative Marjorie Tailor Greene. The Rome News Tribune and other media outlets have been reporting the same thing over the past several weeks, but WZQZ spoke with Chattooga County Democratic Party Chair Cynthia Hubler on Friday of last week and she said the Bryant switched races in October.
Bryant released the following statement on his Facebook Page on October 3, 2023: “Well folks, I’m changing gears in my campaign. Instead of US congress I’m going to qualify for state senate in the 53rd district. My pockets are not deep enough for a federal campaign plus if I win I would be close to home”.
Other than the statement on Bryant’s Facebook Page, there was no press release made from Bryan’ts campaign to local media in Northwest Georgia. However, signs are popping up around the area that show Bryan’t intentions to run for state senate instead of Congress.
