This fall, enrollment at the University System of Georgia (USG) reached an all-time high of 364,725 students, marking a 5. 9% increase from the previous year. This growth was seen across all 26 public colleges and universities within the system, with a significant portion coming from in-state students. USG Chancellor Sonny Perdue highlighted the importance of not only enrolling students but also ensuring they graduate and contribute to the state’s workforce.

Enrollment increased in all four sectors of institutions, with research universities seeing the highest growth both in number and percentage. Georgia Tech surpassed Georgia State University in enrollment, becoming USG’s largest institution, while the University of West Georgia saw the most significant percentage growth. Both undergraduate and graduate enrollment increased, with a notable upturn at the master’s level. Freshman enrollment at USG institutions also saw a boost, in contrast to a national decline in first-year student enrollment. Dual enrollment hit a record high in Fall 2024, surpassing the national increase.

The student population at USG continues to become more diverse, with increases in Black, Asian, and Latino students. After a decline in enrollment in Fall 2021 and 2022, USG saw a rebound in Fall 2023 and continued growth in Fall 2024, following several years of steady increases. The enrollment data is detailed in USG’s annual report, which provides insights into various demographic factors.
