On January 18, 2025 at 11:37 AM the Chattooga County Coroners Office was notified by Chattooga County 911 of a motor vehicle accident with a possible fatality on Highway 27 on the south side of Taylor’s Ridge.
Coroner Jeremy McElhaney responded to the scene and pronounced a subject involved in the accident dead on the scene. It appears that there was only 1 vehicle involved and was only occupied by the victim. It is believed that the crash may occurred during the late night hours of Friday but was difficult to discover due to the vehicle’s location off the side of the ridge.
The name of the victim will not be released at this time pending notification of the family.
The Gore and Summerville Fire Departments along with Atrium Floyd EMS worked in extricating the victim up the ridge side.
The Chattooga County Coroners Office, GSP, and the Chattooga County Sherriff’s are investigating the incident.
