Start your year off on the right foot with the First Day Hikes event at James H. (Sloppy) Floyd State Park in Summervillethis Wednesday. From 10 AM to 12:30 PM, park rangers will guide participants through a choice of three scenic hikes, catering to all levels of fitness and experience.

Adventure seekers can choose from an easy 1.2-mile trek along the picturesque Storybook Trail, perfect for families and those looking for a leisurely stroll. For a bit more of a challenge, the moderate hike will lead you 1.5 miles to the historic Marble Mine, offering a fascinating glimpse into local geology. For the more experienced hikers, a strenuous 4-mile journey around the Jenkins Gap Trail awaits, promising breathtaking views and a rewarding workout. All hikes will depart promptly at 10:00 AM, so make sure to arrive early. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout their journey.
