Brooke Rollins, a lawyer from Texas, has been confirmed as the U. S. Secretary of Agriculture after a unanimous Senate vote. She will manage around $213 billion in funding for the agency. Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper praised Rollins for her understanding of farm values and her commitment to American agriculture.

In a press release, Harper said, ““Congratulations to Brooke Rollins on her confirmation as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. Secretary Rollins understands farm values and will be a fighter for American agriculture and rural America. I look forward to working with her and President Trump to empower American farmers, level the playing field with our foreign competitors, and Make American Agriculture Great Again.”

Rollins previously led the America First Policy Institute and has experience from the first Trump administration. Concerns were raised during her confirmation hearing about family farms, rural challenges, and nutrition programs. Some conservation groups opposed her nomination, fearing industry bias in environmental laws. Supporters, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, praised her dedication to key issues like farm disaster aid and the Farm Bill. Rollins acknowledged the need to address the effects of avian influenza and highlighted her agricultural background. She succeeds Tom Vilsack and is expected to offer new insights into American agriculture’s challenges and opportunities.
