This past week, the Chattooga High School construction team, the reigning Georgia state champion in Teamworks, made an impressive showing at the SkillsUSA National Competition held in Atlanta. The event, which showcases the teamwork, technical, and leadership abilities of students in the construction trades, drew participants from all over the country, with Chattooga competing against 37 other Gold Medal teams from various states.

SkillsUSA TeamWorks is a rigorous competition where teams of four students work collaboratively to simulate real-world construction scenarios. Each member specializes in different areas, including carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and masonry, allowing them to effectively plan, schedule, and execute a comprehensive construction project over two days. The Chattooga team consists of Lane Bridges, Kasen Elsberry, Mason Majors, and Quenton Rodriquez. Under the guidance of their coach and teacher, Mr. Benji Price, the team exhibited exceptional skills and a strong commitment to their craft, reflecting the dedication and hard work that led them to become state champions.

The SkillsUSA National Competition is not only a platform for students to demonstrate their skills but also a valuable opportunity for networking and learning from peers and industry professionals. The experience gained during the competition is expected to greatly benefit the participating students in their future careers in the construction or engineering industry.

As the Chattooga team returns home, they carry with them the pride of representing Georgia on a national stage, exemplifying the future of skilled trades and the importance of teamwork in achieving success.
