Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) has named Timothy Wall, a student in the Commercial Truck Driving Class – a program at the Walker County Campus – as the recipient of the Roper Corporation Scholarship for fall 2025.
Dr. Heidi Popham, GNTC president, expressed gratitude for Roper Corporation’s investment in the workforce of northwest Georgia.
The Roper Corporation Scholarship, created in 2024, assists GNTC students employed by Roper Corporation, a subsidiary of GE Appliances. The Roper plant in LaFayette is a major employer in the area, providing jobs for over 2,500 people. Luther Ingram, Roper’s president, highlighted the company’s commitment to workforce development through education, believing the scholarship will offer important opportunities for students in essential industries.
Eligible students must be enrolled in any credit program and employed by Roper during the application and award semesters. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, supplies, and other educational needs. Ben Canedo, Roper’s Human Resources senior business partner, noted that GNTC supports Roper’s workforce needs by offering specialized training and hands-on experiences vital for success in the manufacturing sector.
This partnership between GNTC and Roper Corporation helps attract and retain talent, ensuring a steady stream of qualified professionals ready to contribute to Roper’s growth and competitiveness in the industry.
