Earlier this week the Republican controlled Georgia House elected leadership from their ranks- the speaker of the Georgia House will remain David Ralston, a Northeast Georgia Republican. For the first time in Georgia History the new Governor, the Lt. Governor and the Speaker of the House will all be from Northeast Georgia.

Today the 71 Democrats in the Georgia House will meet to nominate a minority leader.  The former minority, Dubose Porter, ran for governor and was defeated in the primary election by former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes.

State Representative Barbara Massey Reece (D-Menlo) told AM 1180 that she would make a statement about the leadership changes in the house after the Democrats hold their meeting today.
