Friends and family of Melissa Gifford-Hise gathered in Summerville’s main courtroom on Friday, December 2024, as she was sworn in as a Superior Court Judge for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit. Retiring Judge Kristina Cook Graham swore in the newly-elected judge.  Judge Hise has previously served as a part-time Magistrate in Walker County.

The ceremony was emotional as Ms. Hise was moved by the support of her loved ones, including her husband and children. She pledged to serve the community faithfully, thanking Judge Graham and sharing her belief in being guided by God.

After the swearing-in, Ms. Hise took photos with the current Superior Court Judges and greeted attendees, expressing her commitment to serve Chattooga County. The event concluded with light refreshments as the community welcomed Judge Hise to the bench.
