Summerville Police arrested a thirty-two-year-old LaFayette man on drug charges after the man was accused of shoplifting at Walmart in Trion.
According to an incident report released this week, on November 19th, Summerville Police received a report from Chattooga 911 that a man who left Walmart without paying for items from the store was possibly headed towards Summerville.
Police spotted the suspect and stopped him at the Circle K on Commerce Street. While speaking to the suspect, they observed that he was under the influence. When asked about the shoplifting incident, the suspect denied taking anything but police saw that the man had the ski mask he was accused of stealing from Walmart on his person.
Summerville Police said that they found narcotics inside the vehicle.
William Martin Russell, Jr. was charged with violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, obscuring a tag on a vehicle, possession or use of drug related objects and theft by shoplifting.
