Lafayette Police say that a bullet found in a trash-can on Monday of this week was not enough of a threat to cause any concern or put Lafayette High School on lock-down.

Police Chief Benji Clift in Lafayette says that his department is still investigating the finding of a small caliber bullet in the boys locker room at Lafayette High School on Monday of this week.

A student found the .22 caliber bullet in a garbage can and notified the school office.  The school resource officer retrieved the bullet from the trash can and notified Lafayette Police.

Police Chief Clift says that the discovery was “not a credible threat” and the school was not ordered on lock-down.  However, the Walker County School Superintendent, Damon Raines, did send out a message to all parents about the incident.

Lafayette Police say that there are few leads as to may have placed the bullet in the locker room trash can.
