Chattooga County Concerned Citizen’s, the group of landowners that oppose Commissioner Blake Elsberry’s land ordinance, are working to get enough signatures on a petition to have the county’s land use ordinance put on a ballot for a vote by residents.  The group has come up with a mail-in petition that can be printed off, signed and mailed back to the group.

According to Chattooga County Concerned Citizens, “There are many items contained in the new ordinance that impede our private property rights. This ordinance has created several new regulations that determine how we use, distribute, and profit from our land. We feel this to be an overreach of powers and started this Petition to send a clear message to our county government. Signing this petition will help us be able to get this ordinance on the ballot and let the people of the county decide if we want this type of oversight by the Sole Commissioner of Chattooga County. Please participate with us in exercising our rights as county residents to demand change within our local government. We encourage you to read the ordinance and decide for yourself if you feel the ordinance is needed.”
