A 33-year-old man, John Howard Trammel, was arrested late last Thursday night after a confrontation with law enforcement while allegedly tampering with an abandoned motorcycle.

A Chattooga County Sheriff’s deputy responded to reports of a male subject acting suspiciously near the vehicle. Upon arrival, the deputy encountered Trammel, who was reportedly shaking his head at the officer in a dismissive manner. When questioned about the motorcycle, Trammel claimed it was not his and stated he was simply trying to work on it. However, the situation escalated quickly as Trammel appeared confused when asked for his name and date of birth, initially identifying himself as “James.” As the interaction continued, Trammel disclosed his true identity and revealed that he had an outstanding warrant related to child support.

Trammel was arrested and placed in the sheriff’s patrol car and became increasingly agitated, hurling obscenities at the officer and beating his head against the plexiglass in the car.  Trammel was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of law enforcement.
