Local Scouts dedicated their time and energy this past week to help support a wide range of Veterans Day events honoring the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces. Scouts from across the community volunteered at ceremonies, luncheons, and flag-replacement efforts, offering their assistance to help ensure the observances were meaningful and well-organized.
Throughout the week, Scouts helped present the colors, replace worn flags, arrange seating, distribute programs, and guide attendees at several ceremonies. Many also took active roles in the events themselves — reading reflections, placing wreaths at memorial sites, and participating in color-guard presentations.
Troop 7G Scoutmaster Mandy Durham said the service project not only supported area veterans, but also helped the Scouts gain a deeper understanding of civic responsibility.
“Veterans Day gives our Scouts a chance to show appreciation in a meaningful way,” Durham said. “They learn firsthand how their service can make a difference.”
Veterans and community members expressed appreciation for the Scouts’ involvement, noting that their presence added respect, energy, and a sense of unity to each event.
The Scouts plan to continue working with local veterans organizations throughout the year as part of their ongoing commitment to community service.
