Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives have announced one of the largest drug busts in recent county history, culminating in the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal narcotics, including enough fentanyl to be lethal to over 100,000 people, and the arrest of a known gang member.
The month-long undercover investigation concluded with a major operation on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Detectives seized 201 grams of Fentanyl, 3,060 grams of Marijuana, 39 grams of Methamphetamine, and 28 grams of Cocaine.
Authorities identified the arrested individual as Alan Sias, described by the Sheriff’s Office as a known gang member.

- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
- Possession of Cocaine
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
- Trafficking Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)
- Trafficking in Opium or a Derivative (Fentanyl)
- Possession and Use of Drug-Related Objects
- Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime
- Sale of Marijuana
Sheriff Darren J. Pierce underscored the gravity of the seizure, particularly concerning the synthetic opioid. “This amount of Fentanyl is enough to kill over 100,000 people,” Sheriff Pierce stated, highlighting the deadly potential of the drugs removed from circulation.
He further issued a stern warning to those involved in drug distribution within the county. “If you deal drugs in Whitfield County, you will be arrested,” Pierce affirmed. The Sheriff emphasized the critical importance of removing these dangerous narcotics from the streets, noting they can “end up in the hands of our loved ones and children.”
The successful operation marks a significant victory for local law enforcement in their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and enhance public safety in Northwest Georgia.
