Summerville Middle School FFA eighth-grade students have been  practicing a variety of veterinary science skills this week.

Students had the opportunity to choose two still practicing to perfect in handling and clinical areas. These included restraining animals for examination, removing small animals from cages, surgical site preparation, applying a gauze muzzle, filling a syringe and giving injections.
For safety purposes all of the patients were stuffed pets the students brought in.
FFA is an intra-curricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership.  FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more.
