A forty-three-year-old woman and her seventeen-year-old son were arrested by Summerville Police after a traffic stop on Tuesday.  Police say that they stopped the vehicle that was being driven by Jordan Grady Roan for traffic violations.

When police approached the vehicle, they saw signs that both Roan, and his mother who was the passenger, had been drinking.  Open containers of alcohol were inside the vehicle and neither Roan or his mother were wearing their seat belts. Police say that Roan smelled of alcohol and admitted to having drank alcohol prior to driving.  Also, there was an open can of alcohol that the driver admitted to having opened while driving.  Neither Roan, nor his mother, would admit that she had supplied the alcohol for her son.

Roan was charged with underage possession of alcohol, defective taillights, DUI for alcohol, failure to change name or address on drivers license, failure to maintain a single lane, open container of alcohol and a seatbelt violation.  His mother, Kristin Brooke Hyatt, was charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor, open container of alcohol and a seatbelt violation.  Both were booked into the Chattooga County Jail late Tuesday night.
