The Chattooga County Prayer Force – a nondenominational group of Chattooga County residents – will be hosting an observance of the “National Day of Prayer” at the Chattooga County Civic Center this evening.
Organizers for the event say that everyone is welcome to come to the civic center to pray for the county, the state and the nation.
The National Day of Prayer came about during the Korean War when Rev. Billy Graham suggested the idea. President Harry S. Truman signed a bill passed by Congress into law in 1952 declaring the first Thursday in May as a “National Day of Prayer.”
The observance in Chattooga County will take place at 6 PM this evening.
