With critical blood supplies running low across the nation, the American Red Cross is issuing an urgent appeal to Chattooga County residents to roll up their sleeves and donate blood today, Tuesday, August 12, 2025. A vital blood drive is scheduled from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Chattooga County Chamber & Civic Center.
The demand for blood is constant, yet donations typically decline during the summer months as people embark on vacations and juggle busy schedules. Blood products are a lifeline, essential for accident victims, surgical patients, individuals battling cancer, and those managing chronic illnesses. Nationally, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds, and a single donation has the potential to save up to three lives.
To encourage participation and thank donors for their life-saving contribution, all individuals who present to donate at the Chattooga County drive today will receive a $15 E-Gift Card to the merchant of their choice. Additionally, donors will be offered a complimentary A1C screening on their blood, a test that can help assess the risk of developing diabetes.
