With Advance Voting beginning today, here is some information from the Chattooga County Registrars Office. Also, find below sample ballots for the May 21st General Primary Election.
From the Chattooga County Registrars Office:
Voters must select between a Democratic, Nonpartisan, or Republican Ballot for the May 21, 2024 General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election. We want to remind voters to review the sample ballots carefully to ensure they select the ballot they want on the Poll Pad or their Absentee Ballot Application when requesting a ballot. The Nonpartisan General and Special Election appears on all three ballots, however the Democratic Primary only appears on the Democratic ballot and the Republican Primary only appears on the Republican ballot.
Voters are more than welcome to bring a marked sample ballot or list of candidates with them into the voting booth to help them vote more quickly. A marked sample ballot may be used for personal use but may not be distributed to another voter. Voters may obtain a sample ballot from the My Voter Page (mvp.sos.ga.gov) or the Registrars Office. Copies of the sample ballots are also posted in the Registrars Office.
Our office has made every effort to ensure the process will go as quickly as possible for voters, however the ballot is long and voters who have not made up their mind for questions or races may take longer to vote. We encourage voters to plan accordingly.
We also want to remind voters who are registered to vote inside the Summerville City limits that another election is taking place at the same time as the General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election. Summerville Municipality is conducting the special election to fill the unexpired term of David Ford. Eligible voters will need to request a separate ballot from Summerville City Hall to vote in that race.
For both elections, Advance Voting is April 29 – May 17 and includes two Saturdays (May 4 and 11). The last day to request an absentee by mail ballot for either election is May 10, 2024. Voters wishing to vote by mail are requested to make requests as soon as possible in case there are potential delays with the postal system. While the Chattooga County Registrars Office and Summerville City Hall are required to mail these ballots to voters, the voter may hand deliver the voted ballot.
So far, the Chattooga County Registrars Office has received 91 requests for absentee by mail ballots. We have issued and mailed 91 ballots and accepted 2 ballots. No absentee by mail ballots have been rejected or cancelled as of April 29 at 7:30 am.
