More than 20 state parks in Georgia offer paddle board rentals and now you can add James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park in Chattooga County to that list.

Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with a surge in popularity in recent years. In 2023, the number of people in the United States who participated in SUP reached 4.13 million, a 9.3% increase from 2022 and a continuation of year-over-year growth since 2013.

Six new paddle boards were added for rental at Sloppy Floyd State Park earlier this month.  The Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park say that funds for the purchase were made possible by the Friends of Georgia State Parks Passports Program. Georgia State Parks PASSPORTS help document your adventures at all of our amazing state parks, including photos and facts about each location. The Friends of the Park say that every time you purchase a Passport for yourself or a loved one, you’re supporting our Friends volunteer projects and programs at Georgia State Parks.
