In Subligna, a special Christmas tradition will again take place at 5 PM on December 23rd. This parade began during the COVID-19 pandemic when Ally Hawkins saw a video of people spreading holiday cheer on ATVs. Realizing Subligna could use a similar event, she quickly organized a parade with volunteers, and it has been a hit ever since.
Hawkins recalls last year’s parade, where Dale Scoggins, known as granddaddy and a lifelong resident, was the Grand Marshal after overcoming cancer. This moment was special for Hawkins and her family, showcasing the community’s support and love. She expresses pride in living in Subligna, calling it a perfect example of small-town America.
In recent years, the Grand Marshal has honored those who have conquered cancer, symbolizing resilience and courage.
This year, Mrs. Odell Anderson has been chosen, known for her community involvement. As the parade approaches, excitement grows with sounds of engines and bells filling the air. Families gather, eager to celebrate their community spirit together.
Anyone wishing to participate in the parade should meet at the community center at 4:30 PM.
