The Summerville City Council will hold a called meeting coming up this evening (Monday, August 4, 2025) at 5:30 PM at Summerville City Hall.  The agenda includes two main items: a discussion on a proposed additional sales tax and a special election for a vacant council seat. The first item is an Intergovernmental Agreement related to the 2026 Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) referendum, which will finance local infrastructure projects like road improvements. The council will vote on this agreement to prepare for the public referendum.The second item authorizes the Mayor to sign a resolution for a special election on November 4, 2025, to fill the unexpired term of Council Seat 3, previously held by Ricky Hughes, who resigned to run for mayor.  You can see an agenda for tonight’s meeting below:
