The Summerville City Council will convene for its regular monthly meeting this coming Monday evening, October 13th, at 5:00 PM in the council chambers at Summerville City Hall, located on Georgia Avenue. Residents are invited to attend the public proceedings.

Prior to the official meeting agenda, Mayor Harry Harvey and council members will host a question and answer session with the public. This informal opportunity for dialogue will begin at 4:30 PM, allowing citizens to engage directly with their elected officials.

A significant item on this month’s agenda is a proposed expenditure for essential safety equipment for the City of Summerville Fire Department. The council is expected to consider a motion to approve payment of $18,181 to Bennett Fire Products, Inc. for the purchase of four new sets of turnout gear.

In preparation for the upcoming November 4th Election, the council will also address the approval of the Election Staff.

Also the council will consider a measure for an upgrade with a proposal to install new lighting at the Summerville Recreation Department. The council will review a measure to approve the purchase of a Musco Sports Lighting Project. The total cost of this project is $735,000. The financing plan includes $500,000 to be financed through United Community Bank, with the remaining $235,000 to be allocated from Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to stay informed on these and other matters affecting the city.
