A 37-year-old Summerville man, Alan Scott Holbrook, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts, including criminal attempt to commit child molestation, obscene internet contact with a child, and sexual exploitation of children, among others. According to Floyd County Jail records, Holbrook traveled to Floyd County to meet a minor he believed to be under the age of 16 for sexual acts.

The investigation began when Holbrook allegedly engaged in a graphic conversation with the minor online, requesting to exchange nude photos. Upon his arrival to meet the minor, he was arrested by law enforcement officials. During the arrest, Holbrook was found to be in possession of Adderall, oxycodone, and gabapentin, which led to additional charges of possession of a Schedule II and possession of dangerous drugs.

The charges against Holbrook include grooming a minor for a sexual offense, which indicates that law enforcement officials believe he had been working to build a relationship with the minor with the intent of engaging in sexual activity. The severity of the charges highlights the seriousness with which law enforcement agencies take cases involving the exploitation of minors.

Holbrook’s arrest serves as a reminder of the dangers that lurk online, particularly for vulnerable minors. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor their children’s online activity and educate them about the risks associated with engaging with strangers online.

The case is currently under investigation, and Holbrook is being held at the Floyd County Jail. As the investigation continues, it is possible that additional charges may be filed against him. The public is urged to come forward with any relevant information that may assist law enforcement in their ongoing investigation.
