A Summerville man, Ryan Lynn Bolenbaugh, 21, was arrested in Rome recently after a traffic stop for allegedly driving at a high rate of speed while impaired led to the discovery of illegal drugs.

According to reports from the Floyd County Police Department, officers clocked Bolenbaugh driving 76 mph on Ga Loop 1 near Horseleg Creek Road. The specific speed limit for that section of the road was not immediately released, but officers deemed the speed excessive.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers reported detecting the distinct odor of both alcohol and marijuana emanating from inside Bolenbaugh’s vehicle. This observation prompted a search, during which officers located a bag containing suspected cocaine and a separate bag containing suspected marijuana in his possession.

Bolenbaugh, of Summerville, was subsequently taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, driving under the influence (DUI), and speeding.
