Summerville Police are investigating a theft reported this week where numerous high-value electronics and jewelry were stolen from a shed at an old residential address.
Officers responded to a report of theft at approximately 4:55 PM on Monday, August 4, 2025. Upon arrival, they met with the complainant, Thomas Motley, who stated that several items he had stored at a previous residence had been taken from its shed.
Motley explained that the items were kept in the shed due to an agreement with the landlord of the property. He led officers to the shed, noting that its door, which he previously remembered as being slightly ajar but still allowing a view inside, was now noticeably more open and difficult to operate. Motley indicated that the stolen property had been centrally located within the shed, some on top of his boxes and others on the floor next to them.
The items reported stolen include:
- Two PlayStation 5 consoles
- A large, black and orange JBL Bluetooth speaker
- A used silver Dell or HP laptop
- A new-in-box silver Dell or HP laptop
- Two Samsung tablets
- A silver jewelry box with folding doors and two drawers, containing miscellaneous rings, necklaces, and earrings
- A 75-inch Samsung television
Motley expressed his belief that two individuals were responsible for the theft. Police noted that the property owner did not report any of her own items missing during the officers’ presence at the residence.
Investigators have advised Motley to provide receipts and other relevant information for the stolen items to aid in the ongoing investigation. He stated he would attempt to gather these documents for a later date.
The Summerville Police Department’s investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the department.
