Summerville Police responded to a call about an intoxicated man at Summerville Gardens Apartments on Tuesday of this week. According to police, when they arrived and spoke with the complainant, she told them that the man had been trying to see his girlfriend who was staying at the apartment.
The suspect was beating on the door, and at one point pushed his way into the apartment while being told to leave. The complainant and the man’s girlfriend were able to get him back outside, at which point, he kicked the door and damaged it. The complainant said that the man was likely at his grandparent’s Saratoga Apartment. When police went to Saratoga, they found the suspect coming out of the woods between Saratoga and Summerville Gardens.
They asked the man where he had been and he told police he was just outside smoking a cigarette. Police asked the man if his grandparents would back up his story, and he said they would. But they didn’t.
The suspect’s grandparents said that the suspect had only been home about 5 minutes before police arrived.
Police arrested twenty-four-year-old Raymond Jordan Laney and booked him into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of criminal trespass damage.
