The City of Summerville is preparing for a Special Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to fill the unexpired term of City Council Seat #3. The election comes after Rickey Hughes vacated the position to announce his bid for Summerville Mayor.
Prospective candidates wishing to run for the vacant unexpired term must qualify between Monday, August 18, 2025, and Friday, August 22, 2025. Qualifying will take place at Summerville City Hall, located at 120 Georgia Avenue, Summerville, GA, in the City Clerkâs Office.
The specific hours for qualifying are:
- 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The qualifying fee for the Council Seat #3 position has been set at $108.00.
Already, former educator Jeff Martin has announced his intention to seek the empty Council Seat #3. The special election is necessary to complete the unexpired term left by Rickey Hughes, who is now focused on his campaign for Summerville’s mayor.
The City encourages all interested and qualified individuals to review the election guidelines and submit their paperwork during the designated qualifying period. Further details regarding voter registration and election day logistics will be announced closer to the November 4, 2025, election date.
