The second-largest discount retailer in the United States has no immediate plans to open a location in Rome, according to a statement released by the retailer recently.

Hometown Headlines says that the rumors of a Target store moving into the old K-Mart building in Rome are unfounded.

Target released this statement last week: “Target enjoys serving local guests at 50 stores across Georgia and continuously explores possible locations for new stores to serve our guests. At this time, we don’t have anything to share regarding plans for a new Target store in Rome, Ga. You can visit our corporate site for store openings that we have announced for 2018 and beyond: Target.”
