A 17-year-old Armuchee resident is facing charges in connection with an accidental shooting that occurred recently on Cordle Drive, leaving a juvenile injured. Malakahi Israel Melendez, 17, has been charged with reckless conduct and possession of a pistol by someone under the age of 18 following the incident. According to an arrest warrant issued in the case, Melendez allegedly pointed a loaded .22 caliber pistol at a juvenile. The firearm subsequently discharged, striking the victim in the leg. The warrant further states that authorities discovered two other firearms, both .45 caliber handguns, in Melendez’s vehicle at the time of the investigation. Melendez was reportedly booked into custody following the charges. The condition of the juvenile victim has not been released.
