The Crushed Tomato announced it will close its Summerville location on January 31 after 15 years serving the community.

The restaurant is located at the corner of Montgomery Street and Highway 114 (the Lyerly Highway). The Pledger Family, which owns the restaurant, said due to the upcoming roundabout construction coming through the Summerville location, they are not relocating and will be hanging up their hats at the end of this month. They’re asking customers to stop in before closing day to share memories and let the team know what the restaurant has meant to them.

The closure comes as the Georgia Department of Transportation continues planning a traffic improvement project in Summerville that includes a roundabout in the area and is part of a broader effort aimed at improving traffic flow and safety and reducing congestion through town. The concept involves new traffic patterns that would shift some vehicles away from the downtown core, and GDOT has been gathering public feedback as the project moves through the planning process.

Lots of people have been asking about the other location, and the owners confirmed the LaFayette Crushed Tomato will remain open.
