Trion City School students are set to begin their new academic year tomorrow, Monday, August 4th, following a brief delay to allow for the completion of ongoing construction projects aimed at enhancing campus safety and functionality.

The school year was originally scheduled to kick off on Friday, August 1st, but the start date was postponed by three days to accommodate final touches on significant campus improvements.

According to Trion School Superintendent Dr. Phil Williams, the decision to delay was made “to give contractors more time due to ongoing construction projects.” He specified that key areas nearing completion include “the new high school entryway and the newly renovated Trion Elementary School/Trion Middle School safety canopy.”

Dr. Williams emphasized that the delay was crucial to “ensure that our facilities are safe and welcoming to our students, families, and staff.”

The Trion City Schools Leadership Team echoed this sentiment in a public statement, expressing gratitude for the community’s understanding and support. “We appreciate your understanding and support, and we look forward to the new school year,” the statement concluded, highlighting the commitment to providing a secure and inviting educational environment.

With the final construction phases reportedly near completion, Trion City Schools are now prepared to welcome students back to an improved and safe learning environment on Monday.
