It was a busy, but amazing, summer of learning for Trion High School Senior Kristen Hankins who is serving as the 2018-2019 Vice President of Public Relations for Georgia FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America). Hankins began her summer at the June CTSO (Career Technical Student Organizations) State Officer Training, lasting from June 1-4.
At the training, Hankins was with other State Officer teams from Georgia. As a result, she learned more about other high school organizations, such as FBLA and TSA, and participated in the yearly mud run for all Georgia CTSOs. At the end of the training Hankins moved her luggage and began June State Officer Training with the other State Officers for Georgia FCCLA.
At this exclusively FCCLA training, Kristen Hankins was trained by former National FCCLA officer, Ashley Brinton. Brinton led Hankins and the other officers on a road trip of leadership which taught Hankins how to be a better leader and what to expect in years to come. As the training concluded on July 6, Kristen began the June State Executive Council meeting with not only the State Officers, but the FCCLA advisers as well. At the meeting, Hankins was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Association of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.
This training ended on June 8, but that didn’t conclude her activities with FCCLA over summer break. Kristen was an attendee at the 2018 National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Hankins served as a voting delegate for the State and had a hand in picking the National Officers. Since the conference was held in Atlanta, Kristen was able to work the host state table and tell the many attendees about the great state of Georgia.
When asked about her busy summer, Hankins replied, “I absolutely loved being at the National Leadership Conference and all of my summer activities through my Organization. I truly feel blessed to be able to be in the position I am in, meet all the people I meet, and work with the people I work with.”
