Two 18-year-old men were arrested last week after an alleged “rolling domestic” altercation escalated into a vehicle pursuit and shouting match in the parking lot of Marvin’s Building Supply on Highway 27 in Summerville.

Payton Lee George Penson and Grayson Ashford Plant, both 18, were taken into custody by deputies from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office and charged with disorderly conduct.

According to a report released by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 11170 Highway 27, the location of Marvin’s Building Supply, at approximately 9:07 PM on October 21, 2025, regarding a rolling domestic incident. Upon arrival, deputies observed multiple vehicles and several teenage individuals in the parking lot.

The investigation revealed that an ongoing altercation between Penson and Plant had culminated in a heated incident. The report states that while Penson was in his vehicle, he was allegedly chased around the parking lot by Plant, who was also in his vehicle. An initial call to Chattooga E-911 described both vehicles driving recklessly, with the individual in the truck (later identified as Plant) attempting multiple times to exit his vehicle and enter Penson’s Explorer before the Explorer would speed away.

Deputiespoke with Payton Penson, who had returned to the scene. Penson reportedly showed the deputy a message sent by Grayson Plant earlier that day, which stated Plant would “beat his head in.”

When Grayson Plant returned to the parking lot, he spoke with deputies, confirming he had sent the threatening message. However, Plant claimed that Penson had initiated the incident in the parking lot by attempting to start a physical confrontation.

A witness also returned to the scene and corroborated the ongoing nature of the incident. The witness told deputies that Penson had tried to start the fight, and he had observed both parties “screaming at each other and driving around the parking lot in a wild manner.”

Based on the conflicting statements, the threatening message, and witness testimony, both Penson and Plant were detained and subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct. The arresting officers determined their actions had placed both individuals in reasonable fear for their safety during the incident.

Both men were transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.
