The Walker County Board of Commissioners will hold its next regular meeting on Thursday, October 2, 2025, commencing at 6:00 p.m. in the county’s official chambers. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this session, which promises to address several key initiatives impacting the county.
A significant portion of the meeting will be dedicated to a presentation by environmental consulting firm Terracon. They will provide an update on the progress of the EPA Brownfield Grant, a critical initiative aimed at revitalizing and rehabilitating underutilized properties within Walker County.
Following the grant presentation, the Board will convene a Public Hearing concerning various Planning & Zoning matters. In accordance with Walker County Code Chapter 22-109(c), the public will have the opportunity to submit written comments. Applicants themselves will be allotted five minutes to speak. Under the agenda item for unfinished business, the Board will revisit Ordinance O-03-24. This proposed ordinance aims to amend Chapter 4 of the County Code, specifically addressing spay/neuter and licensing requirements for cats and dogs. This ordinance has been tabled on multiple occasions since April.
